Perrins is an actor on vacation who wanders into a village which is preparing a stage production of "Macbeth." He saves the village squire, Horne, from turning out an embarrassing stage show and winds up falling in love with his comely daughter, Lynd. THE VILLAGE SQUIRE marked Leigh's
first billed performance. She had previously had a small part as a schoolgirl in THINGS ARE LOOKING UP (1935).
