A groudbreaking film that dealt sympathetically with homosexuality in England at at time when it was still punishable by law. Dirk Bogarde, in one of the best roles of his career, plays Melville Farr, a closeted lawyer who goes after a gang of blackmailers after a former lover hangs himself. Powerful stuff.
