This silly comedy was Betty Grable's last film. She and North play a couple of strippers who witness the murder of a colleague and flee to a college town. The girls are hidden by a group of college boys in their fraternity house until the murderer is caught. Grable falls in love with Cummings, who has put off graduating for 17 years so that his inheritance money will keep coming. North falls for Bean, a dimwitted student who is in college courtesy of his father's wealth. Coburn is hilarious as the college president who will accept anyone with the right amount of cash. North steals the spotlight from Grable with a great number, "Shake, Rattle and Roll." Other songs include "Bristol Bell" (Ken Dardy, Lionel Newman) and "How to Be Very, Very Popular" (Jule Styne, Sammy Cahn). This film was a remake of SHE LOVES ME NOT (1934). leave a comment
