VAMP begins at the University of Southern California where best buddies Keith (Chris Makepeace) and A.J. (Robert Rusler) decide to pledge a fraternity, and make the dim-witted frat boys an offer: they will do anything to make the frat's upcoming party the hit of the campus. Although Keith and A.J. are thinking of booze and munchies, the brothers demand a stripper. After visiting a nightclub and watching Katrina (Grace Jones) perform an incredibly erotic dance number, A.J. wanders backstage to hire the stripper for the party. Unfortunately for A.J., Katrina happens to be a 2,000-year-old Egyptian vampire in need of blood. With the exception of its clever premise and the magnetic presence of international pop star Jones, VAMP has little new to offer. The humor is mostly of the sophomoric teen-sex-comedy variety, the violence (handled fairly well by special makeup artist Greg Cannom) is graphic and gruesome, and there is a fair amount of bumping and grinding. leave a comment
