Ill-conceived update of John Ford's 1935 classic THE INFORMER, featuring a strong cast of black actors. Mayfield stars as a weak-willed black who sells his militant friend Julien (who killed a guard while robbing an armory) down the river for a measly $1,000 to help Dee, his girl friend-turned-hooker, feed her children.
