A dim-witted British comedy about the difficulty of hiring domestic help in England stars Craig as an ambitious executive who marries the boss's daughter, Heywood, and inherits the task of entertaining important clients at his home. Craig and Heywood set out to hire some competent domestic help and wind up with a revolving door of loony maids, each one worse than the last. The first, an Italian girl played by Cardinale, turns out to be a rabid nympho with a penchant for sailors. The next, Hickson, is a raving alcoholic whose best friend is a large sheepdog. The third, Sims, is a shy, clumsy girl who has just left her remote Welsh home for the first time. The fourth is an elderly couple who only pose as domestics but who in reality are bank robbers using the house as a front for their crimes. The last, Demongeot, is Swedish and very good, but she takes a liking to Craig, and soon more trouble arises from her flirtations and other boy friends, and she eventually quits. The distraught couple settles on an ex-policeman, who makes an ideal servant. Some clever moments, but mostly predictable. leave a comment
