A rambunctious and spirited effort from Reynolds as the rags-to-riches title character who saves this otherwise weakly scripted, familiar musical from the long list of forgotten pictures. Cast as a penniless tomboy orphan, Reynolds makes her move into Denver's elite by marrying Presnell (recreating his Broadway role), who shortly thereafter strikes it rich.
