A chilling murder mystery has widower McCrea living with his two children after the mysterious death of his wife for which he was blamed. Next door to their home is a vacant, boarded-up house which is filled with odd goings-on. When one of McCrea's maids is found murdered, the children's new governess begins to think that he may be a killer after all.
