A group of people gather at the home of Burke to listen as Warwick, a detective, relates a story involving one of his unsolved cases. In flashback, Conroy, who later will become Warwick's fiancee, is suspected in the poisoning death of Mitchell. It seems that she committed the crime while
under the hypnotic influence of Krims, a mystic who has tried to bilk Mitchell's husband, Corbett, as well. It turns out that Warwick's story is all part of a plan to expose Krims (who is attending the gathering under the guise of a count) and bring him to justice. Average for its time.
