Best remembered as the dramatic debut of then-popular singer Deborah Harry of the group Blondie (she had previously appeared in the comedy ROADIE), this disappointing independent production mixes a black-comedy feel with a film noir look. A brunette this time out, Harry is a New Jersey housewife in 1953. Her increasingly neurotic husband, Dennis Lipscomb, is obsessed with exacting revenge from a young veteran, Sam McMurray, who insists on taking a drink every morning from milk that is delivered to Lipscomb's home. Exquisitely photographed by Edward Lachman, who has worked with heavyweights such as Jean-Luc Godard, Wim Wenders, and Werner Herzog, UNION CITY also features rock singer Pat Benatar in a small role. Chris Stein, fellow Blondie member and husband of Harry, provided the picture's musical track. leave a comment
