It's not really a horror film, but Tod Browning's macabre thriller is one of the great Lon Chaney's best movies and among the popular silent star's biggest hits. Anticipating Browning's Freaks, the film follows a trio of sideshow attractions — Echo the ventriloquist (Chaney), Hercules the strongman (Victor McLaglen) and Tweedledee the midget (Harry Earles) — who, along with pickpocket Rosie (Mae Busch) become criminals to get revenge on "normal" society.
