An entertaining but not very substantial drama which stars Robinson as a WW I veteran who returns from France, where he covered the war, to his former job as a domestic newspaperman. His paper, however, is too conservative, so, with the financial help of gangster Arnold, Robinson starts
his own hard-hitting, sensational tabloid. The control of the paper is split 50-50 between Robinson and Arnold, but before long the partners are at odds. Arnold disapproves of Robinson's tactics and begins an attempt to wrestle away control. In the meantime, Robinson's closest aide, Orr, is
