A flat thriller which has Rennie cast as a private eye whose client turns up dead leaving behind a trail of suspects. It clearly seems that Brook, the eldest of the victim's three stepdaughters, is the guilty one, but after trudging through clues and romance, Rennie points the finger at
the real culprit. Based on author Cheyney's best-selling mystery novel. The screen credits fail to mention a script writer, but all the evidence points to Cheyney himself, a capable novelist but a novice at screen transpositions.
