A pathetic film that resorts to tasteless humor at the expense of its cast, most of whom are midgets. Set in 1938--the same time as the filming of MGM's THE WIZARD OF OZ--the movie supposedly follows the escapades of the hundreds of midget extras needed for that picture. Perhaps a
behind-the-scenes story of OZ's production would be interesting, but it doesn't appear that way in UNDER THE RAINBOW. Instead we have Chase trying to be romantically cute with Fisher, who spends most of her time in munchkinland. Whose idea was this anyway?
