Parker is a poor orphan girl stuck on a farm run by Byron, a mean old man who keeps her in slave-like conditions. Along comes Brown, a runaway from reform school, and he, too, ends up a victim of Byron's cruel and evil ways. The two fall in love and are rescued by Robertson, Parker's
long lost father, who sees that the young people marry in the end. The film is a struggle for the audience with all the ridiculous and melodramatic twists this story takes. Parker is excellent in one of her early films, but Brown is unbelievable in his role. Pitts, a fine comic actress, is wasted
in a part as an applejack swigging neighbor.
