A tornado in Kansas worked to good advantage in one film, but not here in this disjointed attempt at an oddball drama with comic undertones. Stanton is a retired tycoon whose Kansas estate is home for a bizarre extended family, which includes daughter Amis, weird artist son Glover, Glover's fiancee (Wright), and Stanton's lover (Chiles), a television evangelist. Also hanging around is McDermott, the father of of Amis' daughter, who wants to marry Amis but has little luck in winning her. As these zanies try to deal with one another, a violent twister crashes down on the estate. It's difficult to figure just what is going on here, and most certainly not worth the effort. Naked Lunch author William Burroughs makes a cameo appearance to no good end. leave a comment
