This rollicking, enormously entertaining Western adventure is as much about the John Wayne image as it is about a 14-year-old girl (Kim Darby) seeking revenge for her father's murder. Wayne plays a paunchy US marshal — a man of "true grit" — who agrees to accompany Darby on her trek deep into Indian territory and help track down the killer (Jeff Corey).
