After a series of mysterious rodeo robberies, Ritter--with the assistance of undercover agent Cansino--gets to the bottom of things. Perennial outlaws Canutt and King are, of course, the bad guys. There's plenty of action (and rodeo stock footage) until the exciting climax, with Ritter and Canutt fighting it out aboard a dynamite-filled runaway buckboard. This is an enjoyable piece crammed full of western action and designed to show off Ritter's riding and singing abilities. Hayworth, in her last film done under the name "Cansino," provides good support as the love interest. Of Ritter's 12 features for Grand National TROUBLE IN TEXAS proved to be the one best publicized by the studio. Songs include: "Down on the Colorado," "Song of the Rodeo," "Cowman's Lament," "Headin' for the Rio Grand," "The Looney Cowboy Band" (sung by Tex Ritter). leave a comment
