Tropic Holiday

In search of a good movie story, screenwriter Milland heads off to sunny Mexico. There he looks for inspiration amidst the locals while soaking up numerous musical acts and meets sarong-clad Lamour. A strictly by-the-book musical with Lamour singing a few numbers. Surprisingly, she's overshadowed by Rios, a Mexican who proved to have a much stronger voice. Raye and Burns provide some comic moments with a bullfight, and Burns marvelously parodies Fredric March's death scene in A STAR IS BORN. Music with a Mexican flavor is abundant and the production values are standard for the fare. The film earned an Oscar nomination for Best Score. Songs include: "The Lamp on the...
