The title alone indicates that this is another HALLOWEEN rip-off. Yet again a loony-bin escapee seeks revenge against those who had him committed; this time, Malcolm (Peter Jason) seduces a nurse to gain passage out of the institution, donning her uniform as an outrageously silly disguise. His objective is a confrontation with his former wife, Joan (Carrie Snodgress), but she's not at home. However, Linda (Jackelyn Giroux), a baby-sitter, is on hand. Linda is terrorized by the precocious youngster (Chris Graver) she's supervising, priming her for the real terror she experiences when the boy's father arrives. Former football players Dan Pastorini and Tim Rossovich and cult filmmaker Paul Bartel make cameo appearances during the prolog. Though the movie has the usual amount of gore, a modest sense of humor is maintained, making it more enjoyable than most run-of-the-mill slasher films. TRICK OR TREATS is basically a one-man show from exploitation cinematographer Gray Graver (SATAN'S SADISTS; BLOOD OF FRANKENSTEIN; INVASION OF THE BEE-GIRLS; THE TOOLBOX MURDERS), who was also involved in some of Orson Welles' incomplete film projects of the 1970s. leave a comment
