Trees Lounge: Review

Steve Buscemi — leading character actor in countless independent films, and now a regular on The Sopranos — took his first turn behind the camera with this subtle comedy, and it's a winner. Tommy Basilio (Buscemi) is what is commonly known as a loser: He lost his girlfriend to his ex-boss and he can't even cut it driving his late uncle's (Seymour Cassel) ice cream truck, because he gives kids the creeps. Tommy's also an alcoholic, and the greater part of his day is spent in a stupor on a bar stool at the Trees Lounge, chumming it up the with other not so beautiful losers.
