The third Transformers film provided plenty of fireworks over the holiday weekend, blowing up box-office records for the Fourth of July weekend and logging the best opening weekend of 2011 thus far.

Exclusive: CSI: Miami’s Eva La Rue Returns to All My Children

Eva La Rue has joined the growing list of All My Children alumni returning to the ABC soap before it goes off the air in September.

Earlier this week, the show announced that it had also snagged star Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas, Transformers). He'll be back for at least one episode in August, reprising the role of Leo du Pres, who died in 2003. Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater) and Cady McClain (Dixie Cooney Martin), both of whom play characters who are now deceased, will also return.

Having written the first two Transformers movies, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were ready to take a break from the robots-in-disguise franchise. "We'd spent more time on Transformers than we even spent going to college, so we figured maybe it was time to take a break," Orci tells TV Guide Magazine. "But then (Hasbro chief executive) Brian Goldner came to us and asked if we wanted to do an animated series."
