Micahel Bay on Transformers set
Paramount's announcement of a third Transformers movie targeted for 2011 was not only news to you, but news to Michael Bay as well. The director, who's currently completing work on the second flick in the franchise, says the tentative July, 1, 2011 date was an error on the studio's part.

Transformers
Look out, planet Earth: Transformers 3 has a tentative arrival date of July 1, 2011.
But don't rush to pre-pre-order tickets just yet. While Paramount secured the release date as an option, it's not an official announcement of the movie's green light, studio insiders tell Variety. A writer has yet to be hired, and there's no word on whether director Michael Bay or stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox would return for the franchise's third installment.
In the meantime, fans can still count on mass robotic destruction this summer: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens June 24.
Will you cross your fingers for a third Transformers?

Shia LaBeouf by Johnny Nunez/WireImage.com
Shia LaBeouf is recovering well from his recent car accident and surgery, according to Isabel Lucas, LaBeouf's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen costar and passenger in the July 27 collision."We're both fine and Shia's fine as well," Lucas told Access Hollywood. "His hand is healing well."Lucas, who was also transported to the hospital following the crash that resulted in LaBeouf's arrest on DUI suspicion, was released with minor injuries. LaBeouf, however, underwent surgery to his left hand, which caused production delays on the Transformers sequel. In addition to Lucas' comments, LaBeouf's rep has also denied recent reports in Star that the actor might have to have his pinky amputated. Universal Studios by Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage.com
A faux version of New York City that Spider-Man and the Transformers once called home and a New England-y lot that was featured in Back to the Future as well as episodes of TV's Ghost Whisperer, Monk and House went up in flames Sunday morning when a massive, 12-hour fire tore through the Universal Studios back lot in Universal City, Calif. The blaze began just before dawn on a sound stage and ultimately claimed at least one building and three blocks' worth of movie facades, while more than 100 firefighters and water-dropping helicopters battled the flames. The tragedy is believed to be one of the longest-running commercial fires in Los Angeles County history, partly due to low water-pressure which slowed down the dousing effort.Nine firefighters and one sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries, some in an explosion in the building housing the studio's (replaceable, thankfully) videotape and film reel library. The clock tower featured in Back to the Future was among the landmark set ...

The Sopranos - Season 6 Part 2 [Blu-ray] courtesy HBO Home Video
HBO has joined the parade to Blu-ray after Warner Bros, its distributor, announced on Friday that they were dropping HD-DVD in May 2008. The Warner Bros announcement could be the event that ends the war between high-definition formats. HD-DVD has the exclusive support of Universal and Paramount/DreamWorks, while Blu-ray has Fox/MGM, Warner Bros, Disney, Sony and Lionsgate. Warner Bros, which holds about 20 percent of the market, was a huge win for the Blu-ray group, and leaves Blu-ray with roughly 75 percent of the HD market. The Warner Bros decision has influenced New Line, along with HBO, to make the switch to Blu-ray, but BBC Home Video is bucking the trend and "will evaluate the marketplace before committing to one format" (according to the studio); the studio has four high-definition releases planned for 2008, available on both formats, and has sold more copies of Planet Earth on HD-DVD. Recent notable Blu-ray releases include The Simpsons (Fox), Pirates of the Caribbean: At Wo...

Michelle Ryan, Bionic Woman
Question: Did I go to bed in 2007 and wake up this morning in 1984? Bionic Woman is a new series and Knight Rider is coming back as a two-hour movie with a new series in mind. What is going on at NBC? Are they so unsure of their ability to create new series that they are reverting back to the oldies? If so, when can I see a new The Incredible Hulk? At the rate NBC is going, maybe we can also get those cool 1980s Toyota commercials where people jump in the air and say, "Toyota!"
Answer: Seriously, Josh, don't put ideas in these people's heads. That's how we get shows like Cavemen. My deadlines compel me to answer this before seeing the second episode of Bionic Woman, which I've gone on record as regarding as a work in progress. I still think this concept has some potential, especially if it evolves into something beyond a weekly downer. But a new Knight Rider? No thanks, particularly after reading in the trades that the summer success of the Transformers movie inspired this possible
