But don't rush to pre-pre-order tickets just yet. While Paramount secured the release date as an option, it's not an official announcement of the movie's green light, studio insiders tell Variety. A writer has yet to be hired, and there's no word on whether director Michael Bay or stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox would return for the franchise's third installment.
In the meantime, fans can still count on mass robotic destruction this summer: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens June 24.

Shia LaBeouf is recovering well from his recent car accident and surgery, according to Isabel Lucas, LaBeouf's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen costar and passenger in the July 27 collision."We're both fine and Shia's fine as well," Lucas told Access Hollywood. "His hand is healing well."Lucas, who was also transported to the hospital following the crash that resulted in LaBeouf's arrest on DUI suspicion, was released with minor injuries.
