Divided into four segments, this film surveys the impact a London train crash has on several passengers. "The Engine Driver" focuses on a driver who is making his last run before an awaited promotion. The accident in which the train is involved is the fault of his daughter's boy friend. In "The Actor" Peter Finch is a thespian leaving for America with a case containing the body of his wife, whom he has murdered because she was sleeping around.
