Based in New Jersey, the Troma Team has gained a reputation as the maker of bizarrely funny low-budget cult favorites like THE CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH and RABID GRANNIES. The most popular of the bunch, THE TOXIC AVENGER, was followed by the disappointing THE TOXIC AVENGER PART II, which was played strictly for laughs but lacked the dark attitude and willful nastiness of the original. THE TOXIC AVENGER PART III: THE LAST TEMPTATION OF TOXIE is better than the first sequel, but it, too, fails to sustain of the spirit of original, though it begins and ends with the balance of comedy, ineptitude, and violence that have been Troma's hallmark. After being brainwashed and given money to pay for an eye operation for his girl friend (Phoebe Legere), Toxie (played by John Altamura and Ron Fazio) begins working for Apocalypse, Inc., an evil company whose sole purpose is to destroy Tromaville. Transformed into a yuppie, Toxie loses the love and admiration of the citizens of Tromaville, but finally wakes up and starts to fight crime again. leave a comment
