This bizarre, eerie shocker, THE TOURIST TRAP stars Chuck Connors as Slausen, a hobbled southerner who operates a roadside tourist attraction called "Slausen's Lost Oasis"--a strange museum that houses a collection of lifelike mannequins. Why anyone would want to visit such a place is anyone's guess, but some dumb college kids roll on in. The Pino Donaggio music kicks in, the dummies come to life, and the visitors are violently dispatched. As senseless as the story is the film contains several memorably creepy scenes, as is to be expected from any film in which mannequins spring to life. Tanya Roberts, soon to be one of "Charlie's Angels," makes a brief appearance here, the back of her head serving as a target for a knife-throwing dummy. Director David Schmoeller would later direct Klaus Kinski in CRAWLSPACE. leave a comment
