Halop is an ambitious law student whose job with a crooked finance company makes him the scrooge of the neighborhood. He wants to romance the wealthy Parrish, but he also has local girl Gillis on his tail. One of his jobs with the sleazy company has him repossess the cab driven by Gillis' father.
