Howerd is a hotel porter who inherits a small fortune and, unwilling to simply quit his job, wreaks havoc on the establishment and is fired. After some time on the French Riviera he gets bored, so he buys the hotel he was fired from and begins operating it himself. Looking for backers, he disguises the hotel staff as wealthy guests to impress the potential backers when they come to see the place firsthand.
