Torpedo Alley

Stevens is a former Navy pilot who is disturbed by the fact that he was responsible for the deaths of two fellow crew members when he ditched his plane into the Pacific. When WW II ends, he foregoes civilian life and joins a submarine crew, falling in love with nurse Malone in the process. It turns out, however, that Malone is the girl friend of Kennedy, who was an officer on the sub that rescued Stevens after his plane crash. Stevens learns to deal with the guilt that accompanied the death of his crew, and, by the finale, ends up with Malone. A great deal of attention is paid to the submarines, turning this more into a naval homage than a romance.
