This interesting black exploitation film combines the reality of police work with a number of fantasies by which St. John, one of the few black men on the police force, fills his empty existence. Despised by many of his coworkers and most of the street people, St. John pretends to be the first black astronaut or an explorer in Africa. Eventually he gets gunned down, ending the picture with a crack of harsh reality. St. John, who made his name in SHAFT (1971), was brought to court over a dispute on this film's writing credit. The suit filed argues that the Fanfare corporation hired Larry Bischof and Joe Greene as writers, but the credit names only St. John. leave a comment
