An endearing comedy which stars Dunne as the mayor of a small Vermont town who inherited her position five years earlier upon the death of her husband. She retains the position more out of family honor than political aspirations. She soon becomes the target of a cupid's arrow shot by her
father-in-law, Coburn. When lightning strikes a statue of Dunne's dead husband and knocks off its head, Coburn takes this as a sign to find his daughter-in-law another husband. He sends her off to New York to hire a sculptor, Boyer, and, he hopes, to fall in love. At Dunne's first meeting with
Boyer, the sculptor, thinking she is one of his models, asks her to take off her clothes....
