TOBY TYLER is one of those Disney pictures that have as much relevance today as they did when first released. The subject matter is every kid's dream (and probably that of many adults)--running away to join the circus. Little Toby Tyler (Kevin Corcoran) goes through a period of rejection at the farm home of his aunt and uncle and flees, hooking up with a traveling circus, where he experiences its exotic atmosphere, its eccentric characters, its excitement, and its wild animals. Toby even gets a chance to become a hero when he is called upon to perform a horseback trick. By the end, the lad discovers that his family really does care about him and has, in fact, been trying to contact him. juvenile star Corcoran had already earned a considerable following for his work in such Disney pictures as THE SHAGGY DOG and OLD YELLER. leave a comment
