Set in post-WW II Paris, where a rampant black market exists and citizens are hunting down those who supported the Nazis. American black marketeer Morgan offers shelter to Lindfors, a woman whose husband is on trial as a Nazi collaborator. Although she will not testify against her husband, one of his henchmen stalks the streets with the aim of silencing her. Morgan and she fall in love and undergo a change of heart. Morgan decides to go straight and Lindfors decides to give evidence that will jail her husband. The direction by Daves manages to pace things out well enough to make for an entertaining outing.
