The busybody of a small town, Main tries to run everybody's life, including playing matchmaker. She attempts to match her nephew with Peters but discovers that he is only interested in the daughter of Main's archenemy, judge Kibbee. Peters has eyes for another of the judge's brood, Quine, whom she secretly marries. Quine goes to war, and Peters dies soon after childbirth without telling anyone who the father was. Main gets the bright idea of saying the baby is hers, which nobody believes. Quine turns up alive at the finale and announces his parenthood, and the village goes back to sleep. Ridiculous in the main and a waste of talent, although the pretty misses Peters and Grey do far more than the script asks. leave a comment
