Tightly woven yarn in which insurance investigator Stevens finds the daily routine of the office and the confines of his cozy home unbearable. Making a complete switch, he takes to the other side of the law, becoming the target of a onetime dear friend, railroad cop Calder, who doesn't want to accept the fact that he must bring the cold wrath of justice down on his buddy.
