Lubin is a young musician from a family of serious composers who decides to take a less respectable Tin Pan Alley job. He falls in love with secretary Day and changes his name from Lederwitski, a name associated with class musicianship, to Glover. He then takes a job in a small-time cafe banging out honkytonk piano.
