1963, Movie, NR, 88 mins

A weak romantic comedy starring Young as a dashing Navy commander who spots an SOS coming from the shore off San Diego Bay and goes to investigate. What he finds is rowdy youngster Robbins, who was given a signal light to play with by his uncle, Buttons, a commercial airplane pilot. This chance meeting throws Young and Robbins' widowed mother, Jones, into a romance. While Jones is quite taken with Young, she declines his offers of marriage because she wants her children (there are two more in addition to Robbins) to have a normal home life, not a Navy brat's. The boys, like Young, are disappointed, so when their uncle arrives with some weather balloons to play with, Robbins sails himself across San Diego Bay knowing that Young will come to his rescue. Young does just that, and, seeing his devotion to the boys and theirs to him, Jones agrees to marry the sailor. leave a comment
