A well-meaning portrayal of Japanese customs and traditions which ultimately looks like travelog, complete with excessive narration. The story, which is merely an excuse to show off the beautiful scenery, has a nisei seaman falling in love with a Japanese nightclub hostess but unable to
marry her because of strong devotion to archaic customs. Filmed in Hong Kong and Japan, this was producer/director Brusseau's first feature film, one which betrays his metier as a documentarist.
