1970, Movie, NR, 90 mins

A trilogy about Australia's youth which marks the first fiction feature film to be produced by that country's Commonwealth Film Unit, which has gone on to make quite an impact. The most interesting aspect of THREE TO GO is the chance it provides to see an early short (each episode runs approximately 30 minutes) from Peter Weir, who has gone on to become the most respected of Australia's new breed, directing PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, THE LAST WAVE, and WITNESS. His episode, "Michael," concerns a young office worker, affected by a film on guerrilla warfare, who becomes attracted to the hippie lifestyle. "Judy," the next sketch, deals with a 20-year-old girl who wants to leave her small-town lifestyle behind and head for the city. "Toula" tells the story of a young Greek girl who is locked into her parents' ways while she would rather be living like her Australian peers. leave a comment
