Though many of jokes are familiar and the outcome easily predictable, the picture scored an Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Film (it lost to THE OFFICIAL STORY) and French Cesars for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Michel Boujenah).
