The Louis B. Mayer axiom that MGM had "more stars than there are in heaven" was proven true by this flag-waving wartime extravaganza. Promising opera singer Kathryn Jones (Kathryn Grayson) puts her career on hold to keep house for her Army colonel father (John Boles) after he and his
wife (Mary Astor) separate. Kathryn's life becomes further complicated by the arrival of Pvt. Eddie Marsh (Gene Kelly), a former circus trapeze artist who doesn't much like the Army way of life but who wants to transfer to the Air Corps and realizes that by winning over Kathryn he may be able to
