Thomasine And Bushrod

Set in the New Mexico of 1912-1915, THOMASINE AND BUSHROD details the exploits of a fictional black "Bonnie and Clyde"-type duo. Julien and McGee, the title characters, race through the Southwest in their ancient jalopies, shooting lawmen and sharing the riches with poor blacks, whites, and Indians alike. One avenging sheriff, Murdock, is determined to bring the pair in and pursues them relentlessly. Although there's a heavy dose of exploitative violence (director Parks, Jr., also delivered SUPERFLY, 1972), Julien and McGee offset it with two superb performances of characters with real emotions.
