When smooth-talking lawyer Douglas talks Smith into impersonating a missing millionaire, the poverty-stricken man finds himself in trouble. He suddenly has a hateful wife and brother, and an amorous sister-in-law. Smith discovers that Douglas' plot also involves murder in order to collect a lot of cash. Smith manages to escape after a struggle with the crooked lawyer, and exposes the entire plan. The cast is capable, but the story is unconvincing, with a directorial style that confuses rather than builds suspense. leave a comment
