Darnell is a would-be writer who lives in a world of her own. Her sister, Domergue, is married to Duryea, a man confined to a wheelchair after an accident. When Darnell brings home her new beau, Jason, Domergue wants him for her own. She tricks Darnell into giving her husband poison in
place of his medicine, thus conveniently getting rid of both of them. The plan works and Darnell is arrested for murder. But Jason finally rejects Domergue, and she walks through the rain to confess to the police. There are some fine production values in this potboiler, but it plays too casually
