A lesser GUYS AND DOLLS has Douglas and Franciosa (the latter in his first film) as two small-time gangsters who run a Broadway nightclub. They fill the club with stock characters, trying to make it a home away from home for its denizens. Simmons, a schoolteacher doubling as a secretary,
