Japanese detective Lorre is trailing some smugglers. He boards the Marco Polo on a course for the Far East and comes to know Beck, the son of the ship's owner, who is delivering a letter to Kinnell. Kinnell is the company's branch manager in Shanghai and the letter tells him to be on the lookout for contraband.
