In a somewhat modernized version of THE ARABIAN NIGHTS, Reeves plays the thief who falls in love with the beautiful daughter of a sultan. She is also loved by the evil Dominici, who attempts to win the princess with the aid of a magic love potion. But because she is really in love with Reeves, the potion turns to poison and the girl falls gravely ill. The only thing that can save her is a blue rose that grows beyond the mystical Seven Gates. Reeves takes off after the rose, along with Dominici and several other suitors. His adventures include crossing a plain of boiling lava, outwitting the temptress Vessel, and surviving a sudden flood. He finally finds the blue rose and brings it back to the princess. The sultan is eternally grateful to Reeves and makes him the king of Baghdad. Previous versions in 1924 and 1940 were vastly superior to this. leave a comment
