Three sisters, Calvert, Crawford, and Gray, become involved in marriages which over the years develop into three very different types of relationships. Calvert makes out the best, with a marriage to a man who has some human compassion and bases their marriage on understanding. Crawford soon grows tired of her overly affectionate hubby and has a string of affairs. But Gray winds up with a total monster in Mason, an overbearing sadist who has literally taken away his wife's freedom, forcing her to become an alcoholic. When her sister attempts to get help for her, but fails because Mason becomes aware of the appointment, Gray commits suicide by throwing herself in front of a truck. A perfect role for Mason who outwardly appears as a thoroughly likable and normal person, but in brief moments displays the real personality behind the mask. leave a comment
