A fine, thoughtful western stars Murray as an ambitious cowboy who borrows money from dance hall floozy Remick to buy a ranch and make a new life. Unfortunately he abandons all his seedier friends and enters into a loveless marriage with banker Dekker's niece Owens in order to better his
position in the community. Murray goes as far as allowing a posse led by Egan to hang his old riding buddy Whitman rather than ruffle the feathers of any of his newfound society friends. Eventually Murray must abandon his pretensions and become his old self when Egan goes after Remick. Murray is
nearly killed by Egan, but Remick once again comes to his rescue and shoots the villain...
