This spirited documentary examines the world of rap music using both interviews and performance footage of many popular rappers at a Philadelphia concert. The singers address many aspects of their music and lifestyle including the apparent connection between rap performers and crime the differences between East Coast and West Coast rap the rampant use of marijuana amongst rappers the genre's popularity and its influence outside the Black and Latino communities and the disdain "old school" rappers have toward the current more hardcore crop. In addition the film often goes behind-the-scenes showing rap performers at work and play. watch

Before I tell you what you'll...

Before I tell you what you'll find in my exclusive interview with Gilmore Girls CEO Amy Sherman-Palladino below, let me tell you what you won't: Any mention of the growing (at least based on the Ask Ausiello feedback I've been receiving) fan backlash involving a certain long-lost "turtle" named April and the tension her presence is creating between Luke and Lorelai. Judge me and my interview skills all you want, but I just didn't go there. That heated discussion would have hijacked the entire interview and, as a result, compromised my primary mission: to seize as much prattle as I could about this season's final six episodes, the show's future on CW and Team Palladino's highly publicized contract talks. Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, as much as I worship the ground AS-P read more

WB BOOTS TWO

WB has benched for the time being both Living with Fran and Blue Collar TV, although both shows will remain in production. Melanie Griffith's Twins (the show, people) will take over Fran's slot, while an encore airing of Supernatural will be offered up to the 17 people who were choosing Blue Collar over the Housewives on Sunday at 9. read more

STILL DREAMIN' OF JEANNIE

Jessica Alba, who is back in theaters this weekend in Into the Blue, confirms that there are ongoing talks about her headlining a big-screen take on the TV classic I Dream of Jeannie. "I definitely have met a couple of times at Sony and we've talked about it, [but] the script is just not in the shape I would want it to be in if I was going to do it," the actress said this week at a press event. "I want to do the show; I want the charm of the show." As for who might play Major Nelson, Alba is mum but notes, "It needs to be a strong leading man who is funny and all the things you love about Larry Hagman." I believe Chris O'Donnell is free. read more
